The Life & The Legacy
Of
Drs.  Martin Luther & Coretta Scott King, Jr.,
Michael Luther King was born January 15, 1929, his untimely demised was April 4th 1968.  Michael Luther King was born to the late parents’ named “The Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr., & Mrs. Alberta William King.”  During his early years in life, “Michael” changed his named to “Martin” and thereafter was prominently known as “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”
Briefly highlighting “Dr. King’s” achievements and accomplishment, due to his advanced high score on his college entrance exams, the young “Martin” enrolled in Morehouse College at the age of fifteen (15).  In 1949 he graduated from The Morehouse College with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.  The Young Man “Martin” then furthers his education at The Crozer’s Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania.  In 1951, during his senior year at Crozer’s Theological Seminary the young man, “Mr. Martin” was elected as the valedictorian and he was successfully awarded a Bachelor of Divinity from “The Crozer’s Theological Seminary.
In September of 1951, Mr. Martin Luther King Jr., began his doctoral studies in Systematic Theology at Boston University.  It has been categorically noted that the young man “Mr. Martin” also studied at Harvard University.  He has also been conspicuously known for his dissertation, “A Comparison of God in the Thinking Of Paul Tillich and Henry Wieman,” which was completed in 1955, and the Ph.D. degree from Boston, a Doctorate of Philosophy in Systematic Theology, was awarded on June 5, 1955. 

In retrospect and honor to his marital status, the young, "Mr. Martin" was united in holy matrimony on June 18th 1953 to the former Miss Coretta Scott and within this union four (4) chidren were born.
In recognition to the young “Mr. Martin” Christian Ministry.  He was ordained a minister at the age of nineteen (19) at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta Georgia.  Shortly thereafter of his ordination, he became the Assistant Pastor of The Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta Georgia, where he served diligently.  After the completion of his studies at The Boston University, the young, “Minister Martin” accepted the pastoral called to The Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, where he served faithfully from September 1954 to November 1959.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., has been famed for several outstanding memberships such as: the distinguished founder and president of Southern Christian Leadership Conference from 1957 to 1968.  He was also Vice President of The National Sunday School and Baptist Teaching Union Congress Of The National Baptist Convention.  He was a member of several national and local boards of directors and served on the boards of trustees of several institutions and agencies.  Dr. King was elected to membership in several learned societies including the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was also known for the astounding and legendary written speech entitled “I Have A Dream.”  As we observe Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's., outstanding Scholastic Christian Education achievements we can applaud him and ardently state "he has certainly applied the full essence of 2 Timothy 2: 15 to his life.  Yes, once again, the words of "Still I Rise" is application to the life of Drs. Martin Luther & Coretta Scott King, Jr."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was awarded the following awards during the tenure of Christian ministry and his civil rights career, which include the following: The Spingarn Award From The NAACP, The John Dewey Award, The John F. Kennedy Award, The Nobel Peace Prize In 1964, The Marcus Garvey Prize For Human Rights, and The Second Annual Achievement Award From The New York Police Department Guardian Association in 1958.  In 1957, The eminent magazines as Time, named Dr. King as “One Of The Most Outstanding Personalities Of The Year” and in 1963, he was named, “Man Of The Year.”  He was listed as “who who’s in America in 1957.”   The Former & Deceased President, President Ronald Reagan signed Dr. Martin Luther King’s Jr., Birthday as a National and Federal Holiday in 1983 and the first celebration was January 2, 1986.  A word from The Publisher, The Producer and President Of The MOVEE’S TON, “Let us remember to celebration the life and the legacy of Drs. Martin Luther & Coretta Scott King Jr., with dignity and honor!”  The untimely assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was on April 4th 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Mrs. Martin Luther King, Jr., also known as the renowned “Dr. Coretta Scott King” born on April 27, 1927.  She was a devoted wife, a mother, an educator, orator and a role model who stood by and with her husband; she was a prominent American author, activist and civil rights leader!
